WHAT IS LICENSING?

Licensing is allowing someone to use your idea, trademark, or copyright in exchange for money. If you decide to use a Licensing Agreement, you still own the rights to your idea, trademark, or copyright.

WHAT IS ASSIGNING?

Assigning is selling the rights to use your idea, trademark, or copyright. If you decide to use an Assignment Document, you sell the rights to your idea, trademark, or copyright.

WHAT IS PATENT AND TRADEMARK VALUATION?

Patent and Trademark Valuation is the estimation of the present value of the intellectual property using several techniques such as NPV, EVA, FCF, CFROI, option pricing, etc. In other words the estimation of the amount of money ("one-off", royalty rate or a mixed value/price) which the patent or trademark owner has to ask for compensation in order to license or assign his invention or trademark. The valuation results for each firm which is interested in acquiring an invention are different when it is considering to be the assignee of an invention or just a licensee.
